Comfrey
A hardy, deep-rooted perennial that's nearly impossible to move once planted.
Comfrey is the deep-rooted neighbour that digs where other plants cannot. Once planted, it is nearly impossible to move — any leftover root piece will regrow.
How to grow it
- Choose its spot carefully; it is nearly impossible to move once established.
- Extremely drought tolerant once the deep taproot is established.
- Chop and drop the leaves several times a season for a free mulch.
How to use & eat it
- Chopped and mowed leaves make an excellent mulch and compost booster, especially good for tomatoes.
- Used topically as a poultice for healing minor wounds and skin abrasions.
- Not recommended internally.
