Cornsilk
The silky threads found under a corn husk — usually thrown away, but they make a mild tea.
Cornsilk is the surprising use for the silky threads usually pulled off an ear of corn and tossed. Dried, it becomes a mild tea traditionally used as a natural diuretic.
How to grow it
- Save the silky threads from under corn husks when you shuck fresh corn.
- Dry them on a clean towel for about a week.
How to use & eat it
- Store dried cornsilk in a sealed glass jar.
- Steep a small handful in hot water for a mild, slightly sweet tea.
